Easy Facial Fillers

Facial fillers have been utilized for many decades and can assist in restoring a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. Aging causes the collagen and elasticity in our skin to diminish, resulting in facial wrinkles and skin creases which can make you look old and tired. There are many forms of injectable fillers that can provide a youthful new glow to your face! Facial fillers can be injected in various area of the face to smooth lines and wrinkles in the skin and restore lost volume. The injections are quick and easy and can be completed in an office setting.

There are a variety of options available in facial fillers. Collagen injections have long been in use but have become less popular in recent years as new technology and new fillers have developed. Common fillers used today include hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm and Restylane, as well as other products like Radiesse.  These products restore lost volume and plump the skin, with results lasting anywhere from six to nine months or longer.  They are injected beneath the skin using fine needles. Though discomfort is minimal, a topical anesthetic may be used for the patient's comfort.  While some minor swelling or redness may occur at the injection site, there is generally no recovery or downtime associated with fillers and patients can return to regular activities right away.

Fat Transfer

Recently, autologous fat has become a very popular choice that is being used in many offices to produce longer-lasting results than fillers. Autologous fat is fat from your own body that your body will easily accept. This involves removing fat from one location and processing it so that it can be injected into another location.

During the fat transfer procedure, local anesthesia is commonly used.  Fat will be extracted with gentle liposuction from an area of excess, such as the abdomen or hips.  The fat is then prepared and reinjected into areas of the face where volume is needed. Some amount of fat will be reabsorbed by the body after the treatment, so the surgeon may overfill the area which can lead to a temporarily puffy appearance. Additional sessions may be needed to achieve individual goals, but results are generally long-lasting if not permanent.

If excess or sagging skin is a concern, then a facelift may be a great option for you. The facelift addresses sagging in the lower face and neck by lifting the skin in the area, tightening the underlying structure, and removing any excess skin. This can also help to smooth some facial lines and wrinkles. Facelifts are often performed with other procedures for more thorough rejuvenation, such as a neck lift, eyelid surgery, or forehead lift.

When considering a facelift procedure, a consultation is a very important first step. During the consultation, you will discuss your goals and realistic expectations with Dr. Masri and his staff.  Determining what type of facelift procedure is right for you is dependent on the goals you have and the degree of aging present. The traditional facelift is the most complex and can provide dramatic results, though the surgery and recovery are more extensive. A mini facelift is not as invasive and involves fewer incisions and risks, as well as a shorter recovery, time; however, the results are not as dramatic and the surgery is best for patients with early signs of aging.

Facelift Surgery & Recovery

Facelift surgery is performed in a surgical setting with either general anesthesia or local and sedation. The incision for the traditional facelift is located within the hairline around the temple and extends in front of and around to the back of the ear and back into the hairline. Dr. Masri will try to follow the natural creases of the face and ears to minimize visible scarring. The skin will be moved and repositioned. This will affect the lower cheeks, jaw and neck area. The remaining excess skin will then be removed from the face. Dr. Masri may be able to remove extra fat that is under the chin, or in other areas of the face. This is dependent on the patient and the amount of fat available.

The recovery process for the facelift procedure will require a dressing to be placed on the face to support the stitches. The face will be bruised and swollen for a few days. The patient should rest for approximately two weeks before social activities are resumed. It can take six months to one year for the face to be fully healed and the scars fade.

Forehead Lift

If your concerns are located higher up on your face, the forehead lift could be the answer that you are searching for to restore the bright and alert appearance that aging can diminish. The heaviness in the brow and sagging skin can occur from the natural aging process and gravity. A forehead lift can reduce the frown lines in the forehead and raise dropping eyebrows for a dramatically more youthful and alert appearance.

Forehead Lift Surgery & Recovery

The forehead lift is completed in a surgical setting with either general anesthesia or local with sedation. The incision is made within the hairline so that it is not visible. The incision will run the length of the forehead so that the eyebrows can be raised. In cases of less extensive aging, several small incisions may be made and the surgery may be performed with an endoscope. Working through the incisions, the skin will be lifted, the underlying structure tightened, and excess skin removed.  The incision will be sutured and bandaged.

Patients who undergo this procedure do not experience a large amount of pain. It can usually be easily controlled and the swelling and bruising will last approximately one week.

Get Ready for a New You!

Dr. Masri and his staff offer numerous options to help you feel great again. If you are interested in a minimally invasive procedure that is quick and easy, facial fillers are a great option for you. These fillers come in a variety of options and you can choose what best fits your needs. Dermal fillers can create a smooth and youthful appearance in a subtle way.

A facelift procedure may be desired if you want to fully smooth, tighten, and remove that annoying sagging skin on the face. The facelift procedure does require a lengthy recovery time, but the results are often the most dramatic. The forehead lift also offers dramatic rejuvenation for those with aging signs in the brow. This surgery can remove creases and furrows in the forehead and lift a sagging brow for a more alert, more youthful look. With a minimal recovery time, an eyebrow lift is a great surgical procedure that can provide amazing results.
