These days, if you have unwanted fat, you aren't stuck weighing the pros and cons of surgery or resorting to squeezing yourself into girdles or Spanx to conceal it. Non-invasive, non-surgical fat removal options have made it easier than ever to banish the bulge.
truSculpt 3D is one of the newest non-invasive fat removal treatments available. Learn more about the procedure and how and why it's different from the other options out there.
While surgical liposuction gets rid of fat by physically removing it from the body and while treatments such as Coolsculpting destroy fat by freezing it, truSculpt 3D gets rid of fat by heating it. When fat gets heated to a temperature of 113 degrees Fahrenheit (45 degrees Celsius), it is permanently damaged. Your body then flushes away the damaged fat, leaving you with a trimmer look.
While Coolsculpting freezes fat and liposuction suctions it away, truSculpt uses radiofrequencies to heat up your fat cells and destroy them. The treatment can be performed using either a small or large handpiece, which is guided over the area by the provider.
One way that truSculpt is different from other non-surgical fat removal treatments is that it typically requires fewer treatments than those other options. Many people get the results they are after with just a single treatment session. In some cases, you might want a second treatment, just to fine tune your results.
Your body needs some fat to thrive, so don't expect truSculpt to eliminate all of the fat in the area. Instead, you can expect it to clear away about 25 percent of the fat. Losing up to 25 percent of fat in an area can mean that your clothes fit better and that you feel more confident when you look at yourself in the mirror.
One thing that truSculpt 3D does have in common with most other fat removal options is where on the body it works. You can try truSculpt on any of the "usual suspects," those areas of the body that are known for having excess fat, such as the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, love handles, and neck.
truSculpt 3D is also designed to work on particular types of fat. It can help smooth the appearance of cellulite. It's also effective for removing standard body fat, or adipose tissue. Because it uses radiofrequency to diminish the fat, it is also helpful for tightening areas where the skin is loose.
Like any other fat removal option, truSculpt isn't right for everyone. But if you aren't a good candidate for either liposuction or another non-surgical fat removal treatment, you might find that you're a candidate for truSculpt.
Let's start by listing who's not a candidate for the treatment, and why. First, you're not a candidate if you're currently very overweight or obese. Fat removal procedures, including truSculpt, are usually only recommended for people who are at or very near their goal weight. The treatment doesn't help you lose weight, although it does get rid of a small amount of unwanted fat.
Second, you're not a good candidate if you have certain devices in your body, such as a pacemaker, as the radiofrequency might interfere with the operation of those devices. The treatment's also not recommended for pregnant women. If you have certain types of skin problems, you might want to skip it as well, as the probe might irritate or otherwise upset your skin.
That said, truSculpt can often be ideal for people who aren't candidates for Coolsculpting, because the size of the fat removal area is too small of the typical Coolsculpting paddle. It can also be a good treatment option if you're hoping to avoid surgery or need to avoid surgery for any reason.
Another thing that sets truSculpt apart from the rest is how long treatment takes. Usually, just the one session is needed and that session typically takes less than an hour, depending on how many areas you're treating and the size of those areas.
Afterwards, you won't have to set aside time to recover or put your life on hold. Many people can go back to their regular activities immediately.
The one thing you might need to prepare to wait for is results. You may start to see some subtle changes after about 6 weeks, but it can take up to three months before you see the full results. For that reason, it's a good idea to schedule your consultation and treatment sessions at least three or four months before any big events, like a wedding or class reunion.
