Masri Clinic is pleased to offer Radiesse® treatments to patients in the Birmingham and Dearborn Michigan areas. Radiesse® is a cutting-edge injectable dermal filler that provides long-term restoration of lost volume, visibly reducing the appearance of even the most profound nasolabial folds (lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth).
Radiesse® not only restores volume, but it also boosts your natural collagen production, providing up to two years (or more) of improvement in deep wrinkles around the mouth and nose. If you are self-conscious about moderate to deep facial lines, hollow areas, facial folds or other wrinkles, Radiesse® may be able to help.
Radiesse® is composed of tiny microspheres made from calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), a naturally occurring mineral, suspended in a water-based carrier gel. Once injected, the microspheres plump and fill in the underlying hollows of the tissues, providing immediate volume which minimizes deep creases such as laugh lines, facial folds, and or sunken areas.
One of the biggest benefits of Radiesse® is that unlike some forms of treatment that can make the facial movements and surface of the skin look artificial, Radiesse® provides soft, youthful-looking results. Your skin remains elastic, moving naturally while retaining its long-term plumpness and fullness in the targeted areas of treatment.
Over time, your body will safely absorb the microspheres, but because Radiesse® increases your natural collagen production, it leaves the area replenished once the microspheres disappear. This means that the treated areas tend to retain their fullness, creating a lasting, more youthful look long after treatment. Simply put, you can enjoy effortlessly supple, youthful skin for 12 to 24 months or more. When the effects do begin to wear off, a simple touch-up may be all that is required to restore your refreshed appearance.
Radiesse® provides immediate visible improvement in the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles around the mouth and nose. Because the treatment lasts longer than most injectable fillers, it may require fewer treatments over time to achieve and maintain noticeable results. Radiesse® treatments do not have to interfere with your busy lifestyle. There is no downtime associated with treatment. Other benefits may include:
Dermal fillers such as Radiesse® are injected directly under the outer layers of the skin, with minimal discomfort. Lidocaine, an anesthetic, is used to temporarily numb the area and reduce any discomfort. The injection process usually takes less than 15 minutes. A fine needle is inserted into the targeted areas to administer the filler. Treatments require so little time that many patients undergo the procedure during an extended lunch period and get right back to their day.
The chance of an allergic reaction is almost non-existent because the substances used to create Radiesse® are identical to those already found within the human body. Most patients report that they are completely comfortable during treatment. The results are immediately noticeable, and the majority of patients report a high rate of satisfaction.
Downtime following Radiesse® treatment is minimal. Patients can get back to their normal activities almost immediately. Most side effects are minimal and temporary. Patients are generally advised to avoid any strenuous physical activity such as a heavy workout, extensive exposure to excessive heat, and or exposure to the sun for approximately 24 hours following treatment (or until any visible redness or swelling has been resolved.)
Radiesse® is an FDA approved dermal (under-the-skin) filler. While it is also approved for body areas, such as filling in chin wrinkles and sunken cheeks, it is primarily used to treat nasolabial folds (deep lines that run from the corner of the mouth to the nose- sometimes called marionette lines). Dermal fillers including Radiesse® work by replacing lost collagen beneath the skin. This restores previously depressed areas to create a more youthful, refreshed appearance.
Radiesse® is considered both safe and effective. Side effects, while possible, are considered rare. Dr. Masri will explain all the possible risks and benefits during your consultation.
Although Radiesse® is FDA approved and overall considered both safe and effective, as with any treatment, side effects are possible. Some patients do experience a temporary redness, skin sensitivity or light bruising at the injection site. These symptoms generally disappear rapidly.
Hand treatment may result in small nodules or bumps under the skin which may last for months, or even up to a year. Additionally, some patients have reported difficulty performing some tasks after receiving treatment to the area on the back of the hands. This generally resolves itself and is usually due to temporary swelling.
Be sure to inform your doctor of any excessive swelling, irritation, or inflammation of the treated area, as well as any other unusual symptoms such as numbness, changes in vision, difficulty speaking or swallowing, or dizziness following treatment.
Other possible side effects you should be aware of include site infection, and unintentional injection into a blood vessel which could lead to other complications. You should also inform the doctor if you have a history of herpes, as the treatment may trigger an outbreak.
Good candidates for Radiesse® treatment include overall healthy adult men and women usually aged 30 to 60 years, suffering from deep nasolabial folds (skin creases that run from the corner of the mouth to the nose). If you have concerns about any other health-related conditions, Dr. Masri can address them at the time of your consultation, to help determine if Radiesse® treatments are right for you.
Yes. Radiesse® works well with some other forms of treatments. Dr. Masri will be happy to discuss which treatments may be safely combined with Radiesse® to achieve your ideal outcome.
Radiesse® is approved by the FDA to fill in different areas of the body. These include deep facial lines such as prominent smile lines, forehead creases, hollow areas of the cheek, loose skin on the back of the hands, lines and wrinkles around and above the mouth, and other areas of apparent facial aging. Dr. Masri will discuss which uses are right for your specific needs.
Although Radiesse® is FDA approved for multiple treatment areas, it is not known if it is effective for sensitive areas such as the lips and areas around the eyes, and is therefore not recommended at this time.
Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or any patients who have had a history of allergic reactions to any of the components of the formula, may not be good candidates for this form of treatment. Additionally, if you have a current skin infection, you should wait until it has cleared before undergoing treatment. Dr. Masri can discuss all your treatment options at the time of your consultation.
